Sporting for a Cure to Return, Benefitting Cancer-Stricken Naples Families
When you think of a fundraising dinner, you might think of elegant attire, long speeches, and maybe an auction to round out the evening.
That’s not how Amber’s Antibodies “fun”raises. Our most lively event of the year, Sporting for a Cure, proves that.
Held on Jan. 25 at The Club at Olde Cypress in Naples, Sporting for a Cure guests are encouraged to dress casually in jeans and their favorite sports team jerseys or colors. We’ll have a catered tailgate-style dinner, drinks, and plenty of opportunities to support cancer research and Southwest Florida families who are experiencing the genetic disease. Florida State Senate Majority Leader Kathleen Passidomo is this year’s guest speaker.
“This is our main fundraising event of the year, where we receive 90% of our donations,” Amber Antibodies Board Member Matt Langlois says. “The more we raise, the more families we help. In 2019, we provided more than $138,675 in grants to 69 families, plus $26,000 toward cancer research.”
Our Not-So-Olympic-Relay-Tournament is a chance to give back while getting into the competitive spirit with a thrilling series of games between 16 teams. There will be flip cup, table pong, and corn hole.
“Spectators love to watch the silliness of the games as much as the players,” Langlois says. “It’s really fun to watch.”
We also host a raffle with plenty of different ticket options for a chance to win prizes, such as the coveted “Night on the Town” prize, which includes a limo ride and dinner for 10 people.
Sporting for a Cure is full of fun, camaraderie, comfort food and competition, but “the most memorable part of the event each year is hearing from grant recipients directly on how much they appreciate that so many people care and are generous enough to help strangers,” Langlois says. “There are not many dry eyes in the room after hearing their stories.”
Special thanks to our sponsors Stock Development, Noble Title & Trust, Coleman Yovanovich Koester, and Naples Transportation & Tours.
